I finally came to understand that settings may override each other, depending on various circumstances, and that there is no clear-cut answer to cover every user case. Reading help all over again didn't yield much. I was about to lose my mind fretting over the same issues again and again, why it did respect my settings some time, and other times it just would not. I struggled with the exact same problems, and it drove me nuts.

I REALLY am loving this program, but in EVERY bloody folder (just about) the name is getting truncated - your vivid description brings back VERY similar feelings when I started out with XY. Yes, I can do the ctl+shift and keep hitting the '+' button, but it doesn't stay. And, BTW, I almost always use the 'LIST' view in every folder. It would REALLY be nice just to set ALL the folders so that the 'Name' column will automatically FIT whatever the widest 'Name' is in each column.

Yet, in another folder where the only two items are sub-folders called 'BDMV' & 'CERTIFICATE', the way they look in the folder is like this: 'BD.' & 'CER.' or something like that. For example, in one folder where I have rather long movie names maybe with 20 or 30 characters, most of them show and the column is fairly wide.
